Where I work
About 20 miles around Seaford, which covers most of the coast from Brighton to Bexhill and inland as far as Uckfield and Heathfield. The square metre rate and the £150 minimum are the same in all of them. Travel is my cost to carry, not a line on your quote.
Core area
-
Seaford
Salt-driven algae on north-facing slabs and green film on anything within sight of the water.
Bishopstone · Blatchington · Chyngton -
Newhaven
Grey traffic film over the top of ordinary algae, which needs a degreasing pre-treatment before the washer touches it.
Denton · South Heighton · Tarring Neville -
Peacehaven
Wind-driven salt spray that keeps surfaces damp for longer, so algae recolonises faster here than three miles inland.
Telscombe Cliffs · East Saltdean · Piddinghoe -
Polegate
Block paving with the joint sand washed out, weeds through the gaps, and blocks that rock underfoot.
Willingdon · Wannock · Jevington
Regularly covered
-
Lewes
Old York stone and brick paving that predates anything modern, where too much pressure takes the face off the stone.
Kingston · Southover · Cliffe -
Alfriston
Soft old stone and lime pointing, where the wrong nozzle does damage that cannot be put back.
Litlington · Berwick · Wilmington -
Ringmer
Long driveways with a shaded stretch under trees that greens over months before the rest of the drive does.
Glyndebourne · Laughton · Barcombe -
Hailsham
Standing water on patios laid with too little fall, and the black spot lichen that comes with it.
Hellingly · Upper Dicker · Herstmonceux -
Uckfield
Leaf mulch and tannin staining from overhanging trees, sitting on top of clay that never quite dries.
Framfield · Buxted · Maresfield -
Heathfield
Thick moss growth on north-facing paving that has to be scraped before any water goes near it.
Cross in Hand · Old Heathfield · Waldron
Covered, longer trip
-
Eastbourne
Original Edwardian tiled paths and stone steps that need care rather than pressure, at one end of town, and salt-bleached new block paving at the other.
Meads · Old Town · Hampden Park -
Bexhill-on-Sea
Original geometric path tiles and soft red brick edging that a turbo nozzle would destroy in seconds.
Little Common · Cooden · Sidley -
Battle
Soft local sandstone that soaks up water and grows algae inside the surface rather than on top of it.
Netherfield · Catsfield · Whatlington
Not on the list?
Ask anyway
The list covers the towns I work in often enough to write about properly. If you are in a village between two of them, you are almost certainly covered. If you are well outside it, I will tell you rather than quote and let you down.
Sent
That is with me.
I read every one myself. If you sent photos I can usually come back with a fixed price the same day, or the next morning if it arrives late.
